In 2003, after working for clothing brands like American Apparel, Quiksilver, Moist & Legends (now Extreme), brothers Nick Bennett (screen printing graduate) & Jamie Bennett (marketing graduate) established their own brand in London, Pistache Clothing Ltd. Since the beginning, Pistache Clothing has been dedicated to it's mission - providing it's loyal customers with the best quality Urban Hip Hop Clothing (or whatever you want to call it!) available today.

Nick started out as a Hip Hop MC with the renowned UK Hip Hop group Dupa Styles (Yungun aka Essa, Devise & Harry Love). So, naturally the brand started by clothing personal friends from the UK Hip Hop scene. Then, over time, all sorts of musicians following different beats connected with Pistache - Yungun, Mr Thing, Yarah Bravo, Asaviour, DJ Excalibah, Mark De Clive Lowe, Nigel NK, Harry Love, MC Wrec, The Infadels, Soweto Kinch, Tommy Evans, Verb T, DJ IQ & GTA to name a few.

Pistache also released a classic UK Hip Hop Mixtape 'Pistache Presents Beats'n'Rhymes Vol.1 mixed by DJ IQ'. The Mixtape features the talents of US Hip Hop legends KRS1, Chuck D & Immortal Technique. Mix Master Mike Live Set at the Biarritz Skatepark

We managed to shoot 3 videos of Legendary Hip Hop DJ Mix Master Mike at the Alai Skatepark in Biarritz, France. You can see parts 2 & 3 on the official Pistache Clothing Youtube Channel. We met him before the show and gave him one of our Limited Edition V-Dub Chain T-Shirts.

Born in San Francisco, Mix Master Mike is of mixed German & Filipino heritage. He shot to fame by winning the 1992 DJ Battle for World Supremacy in New York City. He became the 1st West Coast DJ to hold the title. Soon after, Mike's turntablism collective, the Rock Steady DJs, won the 1992 DMC World DJ Championships. This established Mix Master Mike as a major player in the hip hop scene.

This success was quickly followed by winning the 1993 DMC World DJ Championships. This time it was with a new partner, the only DJ who might shine brighter than Mike, DJ Qbert. They subsequently founded the most influential turntablist group of all time, The Invisibl Skratch Piklz with DJ Apollo. Together, Qbert & Mike won 3 back-to-back DMC World DJ Championships. Rumour has it that they were asked to retire from all DMC competitions. A claim that was hotly disputed on the DMC Website. After retiring from competitive turntablism, Mix Master Mike & Qbert briefly became DMC judges.

As if that isn't enough, Mix Master Mike is also DJ for hip hop artists The Beastie Boys. You can hear his work on the Beastie's classic albums Hello Nasty & To The 5 Boroughs. Mike replaced DJ Hurricane, who in turn replaced Doctor Dre (not the Chronic Dr. Dre), who replaced DJ Double R (better known as music production guru Rick Rubin). Anyway, enjoy the videos......
